LYONS’ FAMILY LIFESTYLE SESSION AT CARRIGAN FARMS IN MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

Meet the Lyons’ family! I was referred for this amazing family from The Stephen’s Family. I am so glad they decided to book, because they are the first family that officially labeled me their “forever photographer”!! I am truly honored with such a title by the best cosmetic dentist in Charlotte. I am not just saying that, this power couple was selected by Charlotte Magazine in 2018! When planning this session with Dr. Joya Lyons we decided Carrigan Farms would be the perfect location to highlighted their fall elegant attire with a beautiful natural backdrop. Little did we know it would be so muddy….but I’ll tell you more about that as I tell the story of our session.

First, the session started with me arriving early to scout the sunlight because I discovered parts of the farm were going to be closed off for me to shoot. Oh boy, oh boy! It was a muddy mess. lol! I even got stuck a few times, but luckily I grew up country, and knew how to get myself out. haha! My SUV was a muddy dirty mess by the time the family arrived.

We begin our first shots in the apple orchards right where the sun peeks through. Next, we started to walk over to another area not realizing how much mud was in that spot. Thankfully everyone was being very good natured about it all, even in their exquisite shoes. After rerouting, I decided to play around with different ways to use the light. I captured a few directed sunlit faces. I also love using lakes, and ponds as lighting reflectors as you can see in some of the shots by the water. It creates the perfect chemistry for back lit portraits.

Finally, as it started to turn a little chilly, we ended in an already harvest soybean field. (Sidenote: My grandfather was a farmer, so I know a lot about different crops.) The beautiful “cotton candy” colored sky gave us the fall evening beauty we needed to end a perfect session.
