Drakes Maternity Session at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, North Carolina

Meet celebrity treat designer, Deirdre Drakes with August 23rd Events & Treats (823 Treats)! Deirdre and I met 3 years ago, around this very same time when she was an event planner. She contacted me for us to both collaborate on our very first wedding style shoot! OH BOY, how we’ve BOTH grown so much from that time, and have become great friends! So, of course when she reached out to me for her maternity portraits, I was beyond excited! Deirdre allowed me to have full creative vision. The dress, hair, make up and location were all my idea. I am happy to share how our session went at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, North Carolina.

First, let’s just start off with all the wonderful details. Deirdre purchased a regular dress online from Lulus. She had minor alterations done to fit her bump just right. Next, the make up and hair artist Kristie Lavea did an amazing job with executing the look I wanted for this maternity session. Now let’s talk about the session! I just want to say it was cold windy day, and you may not be able to tell but, this beautiful mother-to-be was freezing! She did great throughout her entire session. We started off in the Carrigan Farms Quarry, since it has the most gorgeous emerald color, and amazing lighting. We chased the sunset from the Quarry to the open farm area by the pond and dock. In between I was able to use something I’ve never done before! I used the Atmosphere Aerosol which is completely toxic free, and safe! It creates this sort of “fog” when captured in the sun rays. I was so thankful for Deirdre allowing me to be so adventurous.

Finally, we ended the evening at Outback steak house! hahaha! We both worked up an appetite during this emotive filled maternity session.
